Our Summer Mini-Trip

I didn't get a chance to blog about the rest of our Road Trip. After all the trouble with the window, we did actually have a pretty fun time on our trip.

For example, the kids had a BLAST swimming in the pool @ our hotel. Even though it was indoor, it was WAY too cold for me. We all thought it was unique that the pool was on the 5th floor. Weird. I have been to hotels where the pool is in the basement, but usually it's on the 1st floor. Adam thought it was very cool. I swear this guy is part fish.We did go to the St. Louis Zoo, even though it was rainy. I was worried at first, but by the time we got through the entrance, it was pretty much done. However, it was a VERY sticky, yucky kind of day. It was something like 83, but with 88% humidity, it was still uncomfortable at times. One of the first stops was the bears.Adam & Adelaide - I really like the penguin exhibit in St. Louis. It's very cool. Grandma thought it was neat that they were so close.
My monkeys...Allison & Amelia - We really like the reptile & primate houses too.Monkey-say-CHEESE!Adam BEGGED all day long to let him use my camera. Usually, he zooms in & ends up with pictures of objects, rather than people. He did do a good job taking this one of me & Allison. We only brought the single stroller. Well, the big girls did more riding in it than Allison. Amelia & Adelaide fought over who's turn it was, who got a longer turn, etc. Give me a break. Oh well. I guess it was good though. Allison had the time of her little, independent life walking on her own. What a big girl! This is a giraffe foot. I love the look on Adam's face...At some point, daddy treated us all to ice cream. Mia & I had some dippin' dots. She was very impressed & LOVED them.Mia got to touch the cheetah skin. Cool.Grandma helped me out by taking a few photos for me. Some of them are pretty good. I almost can't decide which is best.
One of my faves @ the STL Zoo is the butterfly garden. It is SO beautiful. My girls are afraid of bugs (and cats, dogs, birds, worms, etc.- go figure). They were pretty good about the butterflies though. I made sure they knew NOT to touch, just look. They loved pointing out the pretty colors that they saw.I was experimenting with some of the settings on my camera & ended up with some awesome pictures. Here are a couple of my faves.I clicked this, because I thought it was so cute. Miss Mia is SO ready to start Kindergarten this year. She loved finding the pen & paper in the hotel rooms. She was "writing her note".After St. Louis, we drove down to Memphis. While he was with Grandma, she told Adam about Elvis. Adam became amazed at the things she told him. So, we decided it would be fun to go to Graceland.Grandma & Grandpa watched the girls while Bryan, Adam & I went on the tour. They listened to music at a Sirrius Radio kiosk & had ice cream. Apparently, the girls had a blast & didn't even realize that they were "left behind".The house & the grounds were beautiful, but I was surprised that the house wasn't bigger. I mean, it just seems small by today's standards.
We wore these headsets for an audio-tour. It was weird how quiet it actually was inside, because EVERYONE could control the volume, etc. of their own headphones.Gold Lame' - Very Cool. I really like this picture...I know it's just the lighting, but the boys both look like they're wearing shades of gold too.Of course, we saw Elvis' grave.I don't have a picture, but I got my Elvis T-Shirt too. I set out looking for one with a young, sexy Elvis. I found one. Whoo-Hoo!After going to Graceland, Grandma & Grandpa left to begin their drive back to Dallas. We decided to spend one more night in Memphis. The kids particularly liked this pool. It was an indoor/outdoor pool. Yup, part was outside, part was inside, and you could swim back & forth. The kids had a great time.Overall, even with our "bumps", our road trip was a success. We had a fun time with Bryan's parents and made some memories as a family. I'm looking forward to our next little trip. Hmmm...where should I go??
