A "Normal" Fourth of July

We had a pretty good 4th of July this year. I got to sleep in & most of the kids did too. Poor Bryan still got up about 6:30am. - He just can't seem to sleep in. We relaxed & hung around the house most of the day. Later, Chris came over (his family is in CA) and had a BBQ with us. I cooked some onions & peppers, and Bry grilled some Italian sausages, Brats and hamburgers. Mmmmm... It was really good. There were a couple of sausages left over. I cut them up & added the leftover peppers....dinner tomorrow. Add a can of tomatoes & serve over spaghetti...mmmmmm.

OK, I know this pic is blurry, but it was one of the best. We were at a field, waiting to watch the fireworks. We decided to light some sparklers early (before it got too dark), so I could take some pics AND to occupy the kids. This is one of the first ones that we lit. We had to keep reminding Mia to keep them away from others. You can see that little Allison wants to get into the action too.

Adelaide was hilarious to watch. She wanted to hold a sparkler, but she was scared of the sparks. So, she would beg & plead for us to light one for her, then she would jump back & freak out when we tried to hand it to her.

Mia & Adam absolutely LOVED playing with the sparklers. Can you say PYRO-in-training??


I think Amelia especially liked the way the fire moved. Here's a clip of her singing.


If you look closely at this video of Adam, you can see Adelaide & Allison running off in the background. Adelaide is the little girl in the yellow skirt & pink shirt, and Allison is her "speck" of a companion. They made it pretty far. The kids LOVED being able to just run & go crazy. Too funny.

I love watching them play with the sparklers, oh it brings back so many great memories. AZ sukcs. My kids can't play with sparklers here. We are coming out there next year for the 4th of July. I am giving you fair warning. 80) And Adam with his Grim Reaper comment hysterical. Definitely your kid! LOL

Chuck E. Cheese...Yay!??!

I decided to suck-it-up and take the family to Chuck E. Cheese for Allison's birthday. In AZ, the kids really liked going to Peter Piper Pizza for pizza & games. We've been here 2 years, and I've managed NOT to make it into Chuck E. Cheese. The kids have asked many times, but it just hasn't happened. So, I thought it would be a treat for them. A friend of mine gave me some coupons & I printed some off the Internet too. We got tons of tokens, pizza & soda for everyone. We had a pretty good time, except for 3 emotional meltdowns - ALL thanks to Mia. One meltdown because she wanted to play a specific game, another when we were down to our last 2 tokens (one for Adelaide & one for Mia). Her final tantrum was on the way out when she changed her mind at the last minute about which prize she wanted (after our turn was over). We'll have to think seriously about another birthday @ Chuck E. Cheese. - Mia says she wants to have her birthday there next month. W...

Mommy Mia!

Yesterday, I was on the computer checking my email. Allison was napping & the girls were watching TV just in the next room. I could hear that they were playing Mommy & Baby. I could hear Mia telling Adelaide that she was stinky & Adelaide replying in her "baby voice" that yes, she was poopy. This interupted me & I asked about it. I only half heard something about not "real mom" I mean "pretend mom". (This is rather a regular occurrence in our house.) I don't know what exactly made me peek over the couch, but this is what I found - "Mommy" & "Baby" (complete with bottle). "Mommy Mia" was changing " Baby Adelaide's" diaper! Just a couple of problems: Mo mmy didn't take off baby's diaper, she just put the new one over the top of the old - Second, it was Allison's diaper, there fore 2 sizes too small. They were laughing & so cute I couldn't help but laugh.

I Should Play the Lotto

After a tubal ligation 3 years ago when Allison was born, we just found out on Tuesday that we are expecting baby #5! I can't really explain why I even thought to buy a pregnancy test. I mean, I spent at least ten minutes in Walgreens trying to decide if I needed to spend $10 when I KNEW it would be negative (because it had to be, right?). Let me back up...I have had some medical issues in the last few years that make my cycles irregular. So, YES...I did miss my period, but this was not the first time. I have had some nausea in the morning, but when I take my meds on an empty stomach (which I do pretty frequently) I sometimes feel a little sick. So I really didn't think much of that. Really, I have just had A LOT of fatigue. I mean I am WIPED OUT by about 1pm. At first, I thought it was just that I wasn't sleeping well. Or, it could've been me falling off the Gym Wagon.
