Going to the Dentist

I kept reminding Adam that he had an appointment. His biggest anxiety was from not liking the fluoride treatment & hating the light shining in his eyes. (The rest, I guess, is a breeze?) Well, the hygienist let him wear this pair of sunglasses, and his fears were further alleviated when he learned that they had changed their fluoride too. What a lucky boy.On Thursday, Mia went to the Dentist for the first time. She was terribly EXCITED and could hardly wait for it to be her turn.She was very interested in everything! She wanted to watch everything that the hygienist did as she prepared to clean Mia's teeth.She was a brave little girl, and she did AWESOME! At one point, I reached to hold her hand (because I thought she was worried), and she didn't want it. What a brave little lady.Alas, each child has 2 small cavities that they will check again in 6 months. More brushing and flossing and brushing and flossing...It was good for Mia to hear that she needs to let me help her brush her teeth, because sometimes that is a fight. Brush brush brush.

Isn't it odd? I absolutely hated the dentist as a child. But all of my kids have loved going to the dentist and have actually been little angels. In fact we decided we would start out trying at age 2 with our kidsand if they weren't cooperative we could just keep trying but they have all done beautifully. Good Job Mia!!

your kids are nuts! but don't tell THEM that--how lucky not to be scared to death of the dentist. I STILL am as an adult! I was the kid screaming in the office as ran away from the dentist for even looking at me.

Chuck E. Cheese...Yay!??!

I decided to suck-it-up and take the family to Chuck E. Cheese for Allison's birthday. In AZ, the kids really liked going to Peter Piper Pizza for pizza & games. We've been here 2 years, and I've managed NOT to make it into Chuck E. Cheese. The kids have asked many times, but it just hasn't happened. So, I thought it would be a treat for them. A friend of mine gave me some coupons & I printed some off the Internet too. We got tons of tokens, pizza & soda for everyone. We had a pretty good time, except for 3 emotional meltdowns - ALL thanks to Mia. One meltdown because she wanted to play a specific game, another when we were down to our last 2 tokens (one for Adelaide & one for Mia). Her final tantrum was on the way out when she changed her mind at the last minute about which prize she wanted (after our turn was over). We'll have to think seriously about another birthday @ Chuck E. Cheese. - Mia says she wants to have her birthday there next month. W

Avery Updates

Avery is thriving, but I find myself busier than ever. Go figure. At her one month checkup, she weighed 8lb 14oz (born 6lb 15oz). Then at her 2 month checkup, she was 10lb 14oz. I don't think I've had a baby grow so fast. We'll have to see how long this keeps up. She's even close to sleeping through the night. Several nights a week, she sleeps for around 7 hours! None of my babies like bathtime . BIG Yawn! Baby bear in her carseat . Allison can't stand to leave her be. She loves her baby sister. Sometimes her eyes don't focus together....My poor little crazy-eyes. Happy baby! She's officially grown out of a few outfits like this one. Sad Baby. Trying to enjoy a litt le playtime. "Look at Mommy Baby!" My Little girls. Floor Dancing Avery needs her binky . Allison is a punk sometimes...She took Avery's sock off, so I made her put it back on. It's a lot harder than it looks.

OK, today is video Friday. I was looking through some video clips with the kids this morning & decided to share a couple of cute ones. This is one of my faves. - This is just typical for Adam when Amelia was born. He loved his little sis SO much. What happened? It's just funny to hear Amelia "whine" as her brother loves on her.
