A Monkey's Tale

We moved to Illinois right after Christmas 2006, and arrived near January 1st, 2007. Shortly after, in the spring, the purple monkey appeared. Now, Adelaide was still pretty little (almost 2) & was talking, but hard to understand. She recognized that purple monkey. After a little while, she would ask if we would see the purple monkey. Well, a few times when we would drive by, he would not be there & we'd have to speculate about where he'd gone. Eventually, the purple monkey disappeared.

Apparently, he was only on vacation though. He re-appeared sometime in the late-summer or early-fall. Again, Adelaide was excited to see her friend purple monkey. But, eventually it did become too cold I think to keep the inflateable out on the corner. He had to "go away" again.

The funny thing is not that this car dealership uses the SAME attention-getting tactics season after season. The funniest part is that my kids look for the purple monkey. And because he has disappeared & returned a few times, they expect it to continue. Well, they were not disappointed. - Just recently, the purple monkey "came back". The kids were SO excited. I know- Totally NUTS. They are so funny, the girls talk to each other about where they think he has been. Adam just thinks they are being dumb, but I won't let him say anything. It's SO funny.

That is so cute that they wonder and speculate as to where the purple monkey has been while he was gone...reminds me of how I used to speculate as to what Santa and Mrs. Claus did and where they went for their vaca every year just after Christmas. LOL

Chuck E. Cheese...Yay!??!

I decided to suck-it-up and take the family to Chuck E. Cheese for Allison's birthday. In AZ, the kids really liked going to Peter Piper Pizza for pizza & games. We've been here 2 years, and I've managed NOT to make it into Chuck E. Cheese. The kids have asked many times, but it just hasn't happened. So, I thought it would be a treat for them. A friend of mine gave me some coupons & I printed some off the Internet too. We got tons of tokens, pizza & soda for everyone. We had a pretty good time, except for 3 emotional meltdowns - ALL thanks to Mia. One meltdown because she wanted to play a specific game, another when we were down to our last 2 tokens (one for Adelaide & one for Mia). Her final tantrum was on the way out when she changed her mind at the last minute about which prize she wanted (after our turn was over). We'll have to think seriously about another birthday @ Chuck E. Cheese. - Mia says she wants to have her birthday there next month. W

Avery Updates

Avery is thriving, but I find myself busier than ever. Go figure. At her one month checkup, she weighed 8lb 14oz (born 6lb 15oz). Then at her 2 month checkup, she was 10lb 14oz. I don't think I've had a baby grow so fast. We'll have to see how long this keeps up. She's even close to sleeping through the night. Several nights a week, she sleeps for around 7 hours! None of my babies like bathtime . BIG Yawn! Baby bear in her carseat . Allison can't stand to leave her be. She loves her baby sister. Sometimes her eyes don't focus together....My poor little crazy-eyes. Happy baby! She's officially grown out of a few outfits like this one. Sad Baby. Trying to enjoy a litt le playtime. "Look at Mommy Baby!" My Little girls. Floor Dancing Avery needs her binky . Allison is a punk sometimes...She took Avery's sock off, so I made her put it back on. It's a lot harder than it looks.

OK, today is video Friday. I was looking through some video clips with the kids this morning & decided to share a couple of cute ones. This is one of my faves. - This is just typical for Adam when Amelia was born. He loved his little sis SO much. What happened? It's just funny to hear Amelia "whine" as her brother loves on her.
