Midwest Keech

Well, we've been having so much fun that I haven't had a chance to blog about all our adventures. I just haven't taken the time out to do it. We had a relatively good drive out, considering the fact that Bryan & I drove straight through the night with minimal stops. We got away from home about 1pm & started our trek West. We stopped periodically to eat, and finally shut off the DVD player about 10:30 or 11pm so the kids could get some sleep. Bryan & I took turns driving, but finally had to pull off @ a rest stop about 2:30am to get a couple hours sleep. Ultimately, we made our trip in about 27 hours. Not bad at all. We got to attend church on July 4th with family, so the girls all got to wear their matching skirts. I had to take some pics. We played fireworks too. In the above picture, you can just make out the parachute above the house. Out of 6 or so, we only got 2 stuck on the roof. The kids had tons of fun watching us set off some fireworks. This year, Adelaide's birthday fell on the day before we left for vacation. Needless to say, I was not up for throwing a big party or cleaning up after a get together @ my house. Lucky for me, my kids are still young enough to think that it's cool to have a birthday dinner & cake @ McDonalds. It's hard to believe that she is 5 already & will be starting kindergarten in August. Happy Birthday Miss Adelaide! The ultimate present this year? A penguin pillow-pet. I know, I don't really get-it either. Cake anyone? After dinner, we took the family to see Toy Story 3. Overall, a great little birthday celebration.

Just some fun pics of the Slip & Slide. We had one 2 summers ago, and the kids hated it. I guess they're older now, and it was fun....Or, they were desperate for relief from the heat? Either way, they had fun with their $5 Slip & Slide. Go Mia! It took her a little while to get the hang of it. Adam was a Pro the first time... Allison either sat on her bum & scooted, or crawled along on her belly "Commando-Style". Mommy didn't...But Daddy even got in on the fun too. Happy Girl Adelaide loved "slipping". LOVE IT! I know it's sad when getting a new appliance is "exciting". Well, our old fridge stopped making ice & Bryan was worried that it was several years old and maybe not worth repairing. I think that he needed an excuse to go buy a new one. Whatever, I'm not complaining. We went window shopping @ a couple of local stores & found this beauty. The sales-guy offered it to us with a discount, because it has a little ding in one of the doors. - Like anyone will notice one it has all my stuff all over it. Ha! So here is our new addition. A black refrigerator with French doors. The drawer freezer, doesn't have as much space as an upright, but when the basement is finished, I'll be able to use the deep-freeze again. So, that's not so bad. I really like having the double fridge width though. For Memorial Day, we were invited to our friends' house for a BBQ party. We had grilled pizzas, which were yummy & played games. The kids attempted to play Duck, Duck...
