At the end of the school year, our school has a Family-Fun-Night. It has been rainy the last couple of years, so this was actually the first one we've been to. The kids had a fun time. There were several inflatables for the kids to play on & lots of raffles & snacks to be had for all. Poor Allison was too little for most of the inflatables, so she spent several turns in the Moon-Bounce. The big girls liked it too. This is Corny. I swear he reminds me of the mascot off The Simpsons . What is that team - The Isotopes? Anyway, he is the mascot for our local baseball team, The Corn Huskers . Last year, I made a big deal out of birthdays & let the kids have some parties. Well, this year I wasn't really up-for-it. I did however, invite our friends (the Cowands ) to spend time with us. Jessica Cowand is one of my oldest, best friends. We went to high school together & she knows where all the bodies are buried . The Cowands moved from AZ to St. Louis in January, and I'm very excited to have them much closer. Jessica drove up with her 4 kids (hubby had to work), and spent Friday & Saturday with us. Friday night, Jessica & I actually snuck away on a girls' night with some other ladies. We left my 4, Jessica's 4 & 4 Clark children with 2 dads. They rock! - What great guys. I have a friend...Jessica. I know I've mentioned her before, probably many times. We were fortunate to spend some time with her & her family while we were in AZ in June. What I may not have mentioned, is that she is totally & completely OCD. When she gets upset, she gets down & takes a toothbrush to the kitchen floor. I have always teased her about being a "neat freak". We were quite a pair...her being a total clean nut (mostly her dad's doing, long story), and me kind of a sloppy joe. This last week, while planning for a baby shower, I did LOTS of cleaning & organizing. Aren't you proud Miss Jessica? The house was very clean. Well, for about 5 minutes until we lived in it. I know. I'm a loser, slacker blogger person. I've been home for almost 2 weeks & I haven't blogged about my trip to AZ. I could say that I've been resting & recovering from vacation. The truth? Just lazy, I guess. Anyway, the flight was OK. We flew from Peoria to Mesa on Allegiant Airline. I found tickets on Wednesday, June 3rd for $29 to Mesa. Crazy, I know. Our flight home was only $79, so I ended up bringing the girls with me. Adam & Amelia were really good on the flight. Adam listened to his mp3 player & Mia played her vsmile or listened to my mp3. Adelaide & Allison, however, had ants in their pants. They were up, down & all around. Luckily (kind of?), we were all the way in the back by the lavatory, so the multiple trips were no big deal. Adelaide fell asleep for about the last 20 minutes of the flight & Allison faded quickly after that. Finally, right? Whatever! Then they were grouchy when I had to wake them up.
